Academic Techniques to increase PA to 60 a day!

This will be an active session where participants will experience, first hand, ways to engage students with challenge, novelty, and movement, all of which are centered on brain based principles. The applications used are research based, fun, active, and engaging! The activities from this session are in direct alignment with the National AAHPERD content standards and benchmarks. These activities also align with the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) and are designed to help students learn and practice what the students should know and be able to do. All activities are developmentally appropriate and allow for differentiated learning styles. Handouts will be provided!

Presidential Youth Fitness Program/Fitnessgram

The presidential youth fitness program (PYFP) is designed to provide a reasonable and attainable way to assess your students’ fitness levels and plan for improvement. The session will incorporate elements of the Physical Best training program, and provides educators with the necessary tools, information and guidelines to implement PYFP in their school.
Participants will:
• Learn how to assess, track and recognize youth fitness and physical activity following the PYFP model.
• Learn strategies for incorporating the program into your existing physical education curriculum.

BREAKOUTS: Choose from several breakouts sessions: Brain breaks for the classroom, Concussion Management and other Sport-related Injuries, Spikeball, LMAS, Multicultural Dances, Speedminton.
$50—NDAHPERD Members $75—non-NDAHPERD Members
$10—NDAHPERD College Students $20—Non-member College Students
All registrations include lunch.
